About Valley Forge

Valley Forge is located in the west side of the Valley Forge National Historical Park in the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Valley Forge proudly celebrates its historical American heritage. From December 19, 1777 to June 19, 1778 General George Washington and his army, the Continental Army found in Valley Forge a refuge for the winter.

Today Valley Forge is a developed tourist and cultural city, having a multitude of entertainment venues from historic parks and inns, to the largest shopping mall. Because of its location at the confluence of Valley Creek and the Schuylkill River, Valley Forge is a preferred destination for a weekend visit.

The main historical attraction is Valley Forge National Historic Park, located off of Route 23. The tourists can either visit the 3600 acres park on foot, by car or take a bus tour. Here you can admire artifacts from the late 18th Century or take part in the musket firing demonstrations. Valley Forge was also home to great historical figures. Their houses are still open for the public. South of Valley Forge Park in Paoli, tourists can take a tour of Historic Waynesborough, home of the Revolutionary War General "Mad" Anthony Wayne.

North of Valley Forge National Park is located the Mill Grove Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary, the first American home of naturalist John James Audubon. Tourists can enjoy the fresh air in Valley Forge either by visiting a farm stand or by riding a mountain bike. Valley Forge and the surrounding cities are bike-friendly regions. Valley Forge National Park has ten miles of horseback riding trails. Tourists can also practice fishing along side of The Schuylkill River Trail.

Another great way to see all that Valley Forge has to offer is by taking a hot air balloon ride with the United States Hot Air Balloon Team.
